The Science
UpAnkle works best when used alongside the RICE method. The RICE method is a common protocol for taking care of musculoskeletal injuries. RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. UpAnkle gives a big boost to the compression element of this technique for ankle injuries. By using UpAnkle under your ACE wrap or compression sleeve, swelling is forced out of the pockets of the joint. Range of motion and movement is increased by trapping the swelling along the long bones of the leg. Pain is reduced when the swelling is decreased in the moving parts of the ankle joint. While Rest is still advised, many athletes find that they can get back in the game sooner with help from UpAnkle!
The RICE method is a common practice for acute inflammation in your soft tissues, like your muscles, tendons and ligaments. Acute soft tissue injuries include sprains, strains and contusions. These are often sports injuries but can happen to anyone anytime. More severe injuries should be ruled out by a medical professional however the RICE method can help before and after medical care. If you’re not sure what type of injury you have, you can use the RICE method until you get a medical diagnosis.
